N. Korea and Redeeming the Time

I remember growing up during the end of the Cold War. One survey result, that I remember to this day, was taken of High School seniors. 70% of these seniors believed that their lives would end as the result of a nuclear war.

Ponderings From The Porch

Until very recently, not too many people considered the possibility of a nuclear attack anything that we should concern ourselves about much any more. Those were fears that were relegated to history. Now with the news that North Korea seems to have ICBMs, some of those old fears are starting to emerge again.

It made me think of something Jesus said in Luke chapter 21 starting in verse 34:

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that swell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

We have a lot of time on our hands. Yes, people are busy but compared to the lives people used to live, 12+ hour work days, 6 or 7 days per week, we have much more free time. We’re as busy as we want to be.

So what are we doing with that time? Are we spending it serving ourselves or are we being good stewards of the time that God has given us? The time we have is from Him. We should use it to glorify Him, serve Him, and tell others about Him.

Tonight in, Ponderings From The Porch, we discuss this issue of time and what we should be doing with the time God has blessed us with.
